Manfaat Antioksidan Pada Buah Apel terhadap Kesehatan ( Khsusnya Jantung )

Hasil ini pun telah diterbitkan dalam Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry edisi Februari 2011.

Chen dan rekan menemukan bahwa hasil penelitian terbaru ini mendukung beberapa hasil penelitian sebelumnya, termasuk bukti bahwa perempuan yang sering makan apel memiliki 13-22 persen penurunan risiko penyakit jantung.


Buah-buahan dan sayuran, terutama makanan berwarna cerah seperti tomat, brokoli, blueberry dan apel, adalah sumber utama antioksidan yang dapat memerangi kerusakan akibat radikal bebas,

Dalam penelitian ini, Chen mengidentifikasi antioksidan pada apel yang dikenal sebagai polifenol dan efeknya terhadap kelangsungan hidup lalat buah. Ditemukan, polifenol pada apel tidak hanya mampu memperpanjang umur rata-rata lalat buah, tetapi juga membantu mempertahankan kemampuan mereka untuk berjalan, memanjat, dan bergerak.

Selain itu, polifenol pada apel bisa membalik tingkat zat berbagai biokimia yang ditemukan pada lalat buah yang lebih tua sebagai penanda untuk kerusakan yang berhubungan dengan usia dan kematian mendekat.
